The Eclectic Catalog of Galt MacDermot and Kilmarnock Records

HAIR composer Galt MacDermot founded his Kilmarnock Records imprint in the mid 1960s to release music he penned and recorded with the legendary New York session musicians he called his “Mid-Manhattan Rhythm Section.” Bernard Purdie was his first-call drummer, Idris Muhammad his second. Though fame came his way through HAIR in 1968, he never ceased releasing music on Kilmarnock. Now-Again proudly represents this deep catalog of music from one of America’s master of melody and shaper of rhythm, from the 1960s through the resurgence of interest in his music as a sampling source (see Busta Rhyme’s “Woo Haa,” Run DMC’s “Down With The King,” DOOM’s “That’s That,” J.Dilla’s “Mash” etc.).
