Let’s not forget that a young Barack “Barry” Obama was in Indonesia w/ his mother during this time period. A new article in the NY Times magazine sets the scene:

“Years later, many people would look back on the late 1960s and early 1970s as a honeymoon period, [Adrian] Vickers writes. Restrictions on the press eased, a youth culture flowered, literary and cultural life thrived. It was, some later commented, Indonesia’s Prague Spring.”

I wonder if a young Barry ever heard any of those shocking, shaking sounds?
