The late Nigerian trumpeter Bola Johnson touched on all the parts of the 60s and 70s Lagos scene that we love so much – Afro Beat, heavy funk, highlife and traditional blues. Everyone from Henry Rollins to Madlib is a fan nowadays, and of course, we are too. We are proud to rep his catalog directly with his Estate. One stop clearance.
Hard to imagine that this music came from late 60s Sweden, and only two tracks were released prior to the late 2000s! The Baby Grandmothers gigged with Hendrix, later became the rather famous Mecki Mark Men and now are lauded as one of the great, late 60s world-psych-rock ensembles.
