New York Disco, Old School Hip Hop and Soul – Chocolate Star Records

Gary Davis, aka “The Professor,” released a handful of albums and 12″ singles on his Chocolate Star label in the late 70s and early 80s. Quirky takes on disco-rap, deep ballads and jazz-funk, these releases are now considered essential in the private-press pantheon. Now-Again represents both master and publishing for Davis’s catalog and maintains archives of many of Davis’s multi-track recordings from this era.

Old School Connecticut Hip Hop – Tri State Records

Tony “Mr. Magic” Pearson released a prodigious amount of hip hop in New Haven, Connecticut in the late 70s through mid 80s on his labels Magic and Tri-State Records. Included in his catalog are the legendary “Be Bop Convention” and Pookey Blow releases. Now-Again represents both master and publishing for this exciting catalog.
