Damon – Song of a Gypsy

Damon’s Song Of A Gypsy is generally regarded as one of the finest privately-pressed psychedelic rock records and has, for over twenty years, been one of the most sought after late 60s American rock artifacts.Under the supervision of Now-Again’s Egon and Damon himself, and over a five year period, Song Of A Gypsy has been researched and documented, and has now been pitch-corrected and remastered. It now sees what we’d like to call its definitive issue. Song of a Gypsy is a special sound, one that captures the last bloom of the flower power movement before it decayed into the haze of the 70s underground, one that traces a pop hopeful descending into chaos, and becoming the tortured soul who would create an LP to file alongside works by other lost greats of the late ‘60s, from Shuggie Otis to Rodriguez.

Oh No V. Now-Again 2

Four years in the making and worth the wait! Oh No’s debut album for Now-Again was also the first in our music library series – and was one of our most successful exercises in creating modern “library music” for easy synchronization. For this entry, Oh No combed through an infinitely-more-vast array of the ever-growing Now-Again catalog – from American soul, funk and jazz to Iranian folk to Zambian hard rock – to create a series of beats that range in mood and style and all contain Oh No’s trademark swagger. Fans of the variety of projects that Oh No is a part – from his Gangrene project with Alchemist to his production for the likes of Grand Theft Auto 5 and rapper Danny Brown – will be pleased with the variety of beats contained within.

Pazazz – So Hard To Find

Here’s another unique release – the first official reissue of Pazazz’s deep disco song “So Hard To Find.” Recorded in 1979 when this Miami-based band was working for the Norwegian Cruise Line, “So Hard To Find” was supposed to bring the band regional acclaim – and perhaps a record deal – but, after two failed press runs, bandleader Tony Castellanos shelved his dreams and decided against any sort of release.

The band split in 1981 and forgot about their single until Los Angeles record collector Mike Vegh found a random copy of the record and, impressed by the steady funk of Pazazz’s soulful disco, tracked down Castellanos and brokered the purchase of the last remaining copies of his records. Vegh connected us with the man and we’re happy to represent Pazazz’s excellent – and before now, never heard – soulful disco.

Kaliedoscope – Kaleidoscope

It’s a great pleasure that we can present one of our favorite garage-psych records of all times – the self titled, and only, record by the Puerto Rican band Kaleidoscope, who recorded their album in the Dominican Republic and saw it issued in a promotional run of two-hundred copies on Mexico’s Orfeon label. It’s gone on to become one of the sought after artifacts of the late 60s world-rock scene, with clean copies – when the surface – selling for upwards of $8,000.

The German reissue label Shadoks – with whom we’ve issued a number of Zamrock titles – licensed the album through the band’s leader, guitarist and vocalist Frank Tirado, and issued it on CD and LP. We approached Frank and got the rights to license Kaleidoscope’s impossible to imitate music on both master and publishing sides.
