“Dark Sunrise” Pre-Sale (And Grab A Free MP3!)…

Following our reissue of three essential albums (WITCH’s Introduction and Lazy Bones and Amanaz’s Africa) from the genre, we finally present our Dark Sunrise, an anthology of Zambian “Zamrock” godfather Rikki Ililonga and his groundbreaking band Musi-O-Tunya.

The anthology surveys Musi-O-Tunya’s rarely heard 7″ singles – not just the first psychedelic rock music, but the first pop music independently released in Zambia – their debut album Wings of Africa and follows Ililonga’s solo career in its first stages, with his Zambia and Sunshine Love albums.

Now-Again Helps The Beat Konducta’s Journeys In Africa – And Announces WITCH’s (Re)Introduction

We’re happy to announce that a few of our Zambian psych reissues have served as fodder for Madlib’s forthcoming Beat Konducta In Africa – entry three in his once-a-month album series, The Madlib Medicine Show. Madlib’s album is out in late March – right before our CD issue of WITCH’s first album, Introduction, sees release in conjunction with Germany’s Shadoks.

In the meantime, download the title track from WITCH’s garage-rock masterpiece and check the way Madlib flipped it for his “Raw Introduction.”
