12 years ago, Egon hosted his first pop up record shop at Now-Again Records HQ in the Highland Park neighborhood in Los Angeles. In 2016 he opened an adjoining space and expanded the concept to more than record shops – the space hosted cultural gatherings of likeminded people from the world over, from artists to winemakers to musicians of all walks, from young to old. The inspiration came, originally, from the legendary record conventions hosted in the early 1990s in New York City’s Roosevelt Hotel and collecting elders who showed him the ropes. So, with the announcement of the end of these events – we will wrap this series at the end of 2026 – we’re bringing back some of our favorites from over the years.
The last featured the return of Joe Benson, Omaha-based teacher, farmer, Buddhist monk tour manager and voracious record collector. Our next event will be in October, with the man Egon considers the World’s Greatest Record Collector: Geoffrey Weiss.
We will post more news about the next event and as to the final slate – which will include stalwart friends like the Groove Merchant’s Chris Veltri. These last of these longstanding events will be announced here and on Egon’s Instagram – @nowagain. Don’t miss any updates – sign up for the Now-Again email newsletter here.
About the events:
Egon’s been selling records from his collection at events he’s hosted in Los Angeles for 12 years now. What started as a quarterly event in 2014 morphed over the years, and in 2025 he hosted at least one event – sometimes two, or three – a month in the 1500 square foot Now-Again space in the Highland Park neighborhood of Los Angeles.
These events will conclude at the end of 2026. For the final slate of events, he’s bringing his friends – like DJ Shadow, DJ Muggs, Chris Veltri from San Francisco’s Groove Merchant and Mr.Joe Benson from Omaha – and offerings from their collections and, in Shadow’s case, as he is very clearly not selling his record collection, vast storage units of vinyl goodness.
At each event, the entire Now-Again catalog will be available for a one day discount of 20% less than our normal retail prices. Stay tuned to Egon’s Instagram for more details on this evolving series of vinyl showcases.
