The Heliocentrics – Distant Star (12″)

“Distant Star” – the second 12-inch single from The Heliocentrics’ Out There – pairs the band with Stones Throw Records all-star Percee P and the legendary DOOM. Fans of both The Heliocentrics’ psychedelic, driving, raw funk, Percee’s on-the-sixteenth-note cadences and DOOM’s stream of consciousness fluid flow will appreciate this meeting of the minds on wax. The A-side features the extended version of “Distant Star” – three verses by Percee followed by a reprise with DOOM. “Distant Star (Strange Version)” follows, with DOOM leading off the track and Percee batting cleanup. The B-side features an exclusive instrumental take on “Distant Star,”followed by the band’s reprise featuring saz, sitar and an awesome Turkish vocalist. The previously unreleased “Space Time Girl” rounds out this EP.

“Before I Die” – the first 12-inch single from The Heliocentrics’ Out There – pairs the band with Stones Throw Records all-star MC Guilty Simpson. Fans of both The Heliocentrics’ psychedelic, driving, raw funk and Guilty’s gritty, lyrical, full-grown hip-hop will appreciate this meeting of the minds on wax. The A-side features Guilty’s rap over an edit of “Before I Die,” as well as the instrumental edit and the album version of the song. The B-side features two exclusive, unreleased songs not on the album – “The Gorn” and “The Oracle.”
