As we noted last week, Egon went on tour with Madlib and J.Rocc in Australia for four dates with Niche Productions: Brisbane, Sydney, Perth and Melbourne. Three sold out shows in a row (guess which) – one day to buy records in Melbourne. On his way back to LA, he sent these photos.
It’s one of those things that rarely pops up here: Egon is often on the road with his partner Madlib; every once in a while the two DJ together. At those events – rare as they are – incredibly weird, and incredibly good, music is usually heard in ample supply. Especially when the best DJ in the world, J.Rocc, is with them. And even more so when a rapper as tough as Freddie Gibbs is on the bill.
As they return from their last gigs in Russia (as detailed here, at Madlib’s rappcats.com), we’ll post some pictures – starting from their gig with Free Your Funk at Paris’ La Trabendo this past Friday. All photos by Mr. Mass, whose work you’ve seen on this site before.
Next up – Egon’s tour with Madlib and J.Rocc in Australia. Four dates: Brisbane, Sydney, Perth and Melbourne.
L.A.’s Gaslamp Killer has been a supporter of Now-Again since the days of Connie Price and The Keystone’s Blood’s Haul EP – and he’s just collaborated with our own Dimlite on the killer track “Seven Years Of Bad Luck For Fun” which will see release on his Braindfeeder album Breakthrough, due out on September 17th.
You can download the track, below – and also see some photos of Dimlite performing at Gilles Peterson’s 2012 Worldwide Awards, shot by our man Mr. Mass.

Seu Jorge has partnered with the American fashion designer Rachel Roy to co-create a limited edition “capsule collection” of sportswear, footwear, jewelry and handbags. For his part, Jorge said: “I decided to do this because of the challenge. Rachel is full of talent… In this moment, especially now, I have a lot to say about Brasil, and want to expose people to this wonderful culture.”
You can peruse the collection at Macys or you can discover more – and download Seu Jorge and Almaz’s “Girl You Move Me” (free!) – at Rachel Roy’s website, linked below.
We’re pleased to have an official French photographer – Mr. Mass – as he supplies us with images of shows that we couldn’t possibly believe happened unless we saw the proof ourselves. A barefooted Dimlite playing alongside Julian Sartorious at New Morning in Paris this past Friday for dancing girls onstage? Yeah, it happened: see above. Mr. Purple Brain, Paul White, was there too: see below..
