Carleen And The Groovers – Can We Rap? (12″)

Buy it here

South Carolina’s Carleen and The Groovers released only two 7” singles, in the early 1970s. They have gone on to become standards in the burgeoning scene known as Deep Funk due to bootlegged, poor-sounding, anonymous compilations. The singles themselves are so rare that copies almost never exchange hands.

Now, for the first time, the group’s entire recorded output (including the psych-funk masterpiece “The Thing,” never before compiled) is available on a fully licensed, carefully remastered, full annotated 12” EP.

A1. Right On
A2.The Thing

Side B

B2. Hot Pants

Connie Price And The Keystones – Wildflowers feat. L.A. Carnival (12″)

Connie Price & The Keystones teamed up with two of the finest vocalists from funk’s old guard to offer up a banging 12” – “Wildflowers.” For “Wildflowers,” The Keystones brought in vocalists Lester Abrams and Leslie Smith from L.A. Carnival, the legendary funk ensemble that saw their 1970s opus “Pose A Question” released on Now Again in 2003.

The result is a timeless capsule of gorgeous soul, arranged with complexity and executed with dangerous precision. This twelve inch contains the extended version of “Wildflowers,” and instrumental and a stripped down version of only the dirty, raw drums for samplers and DJs alike.
